Obituary
BENCINI. On September 8, at St Luke's Hospital, LINDA, widow of Capt. Carl F. Bencini, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughers Anne, wife of Godwin Bencini and Desiree, wife of Colin Cherry, her grandchildren Sharon and her husband David P. Attard, Graham and Nicola, her sisters Olga Wain, Hilda and Bertie Borg Cardona, her in-laws George and Yvonne Bencini, Elsa Denzey, Liliana Bencini, Terry and Maurice Lugrano, Joan Cherry, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hosptial tomorrow at 8.15 a.m. for St Gregory's parish church, Sliema where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m. followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
May she rest in peace.
BONNICI. On September 7, at Id-Dar tal-Kleru, Fleur-de-Lys, Birkirkara, Brother GUZEPP BONNICI, OSA, aged 85, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss the Friars of the Augustinian Order, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves Id-Dar tal-Kleru today at 8.30 a.m. for St Augustine parish church, Valletta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
FRANKLIN. On September 5, at Sussex County Hospital, JOSEPHINE née Attard Flores, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Deeply mourned by her husband Bob, her sons Steven and his wife Jackie, Peter and Maxine, Mark and his wife Roz, Julian, Margareth, her sister Censina and her husband Joe Cilia, Mary, widow of her brother Paul Attard Flores, grandchildren, great-grandchild, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A Mass for the repose of her soul will be said on Monday, September 12 at 6 p.m. at the MUSEUM Chapel, Blata l-Bajda. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
BRINCAT LISANO. On September 8, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, JOSEPH, went to meet the Risen Lord at the age of 68, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his daughter Sandra and her husband Carmelo, his grandchildren Davinia Maria and Francesca as well as his brother Michael and his wife Lilian, cousins, relatives, friends and the family of the son-in-law in Italy.
The funeral leaves Sir Paul Boffa Hospital tomorrow at 7.45 am for the church of the Immaculate Conception in Hamrun were Mass will be held at 8.15 a.m. followed by burial in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No Flowers by request but donations can be sent to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi. Lord grant him eternal rest.
MICELI. On September 3, at Tullamore Hospital, Ireland, LUCA LUIGI (Gino), aged 83, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his devoted wife Claire, his loving sister N.D. Giovanna Stagno dei Principi d'Alcontres, his sister-in-law Lilian Miceli-Farrugia, his cousins Johanna Farrugia, Louis and Monica Farrugia, Marisa O'Cock, his nephews and nieces Mimici and Francis Vassallo, Mark and Josette Miceli-Farrugia, Hélène and Ivor Zammit, Marina and Mark Hogg, Alberto and Ann Miceli-Farrugia, Francesca and Geoffrey Warr, Fiammetta Bonanno, Alberto Stagno d'Alcontres, Michaela and Francesco Marullo di Condojanni, Marcantonio and Stefania Stagno d'Alcontres, Francesco and Rossella Stagno d'Alcontres, Alessandro Stagno d'Alcontres and Maria Fernanda Stagno d'Alcontres, and his many relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, on Monday, September 12 at 9.30 a.m. for Our Lady of Good Counsel church, Paceville, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 10 a.m., followed by private interment in the family chapel. No flowers by request but donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Hamrun, or the Millennium chapel, Paceville, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
SACCO. On September 8, at St Luke's Hospital, CATHERINE of Kirkop, aged 66, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Gregory, her children Josette and her husband Edward Vella, Yvonne and her husband Emanuel Vella, her sisters and their husbands, in-laws, grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for St Leonard's parish church, Kirkop, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Kirkop cemetery. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

On the trigesima die of the passing away of CARLO STIVALA, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be said tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St James church, Merchants Street, Valletta. The presence of relatives and friends will be appreciated.

Admissions Test
Cambridge Assessment has appointed the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise an open centre for the biomedical admissions test.
The BMAT is a subject-specific admissions test taken by applicants to medicine, veterinary medicine and related courses. It is owned and administered by Cambridge Assessment, part of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES).
Currently, the BMAT test takes place once a year.
The next BMAT session is on November 2. The closing date for registering candidate entries is September 30.
BMAT results are first released to participating universities and then to centres to forward to candidates. This year results will be sent to centres on November 30.

Consultation on fines
The Occupational Health and Safety Authority has launched a consultation process on the introduction of administrative fines within a broader enforcement framework.
All relevant documents and the proposed schedule of fines are available from the OHSA website at www.ohsa.org.mt and comments are invited from entities and the public.
The authority urges anyone who might have an opinion on the matter to send in their feedback by September 30.

English language
The Royal British Legion will be conducting its usual English language courses at its headquarters at 111, Melita Street, Valetta for Years 4, 5 and 6 and Forms I and II on Saturday mornings as from October 1 and for Forms III to V (O-level) from October 5 and 6 at 5.15 p.m. and 6.15 p.m. In Gozo courses for primary and secondary school students will be held on Mondays at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Ninu Cremona Junior Lyceum, Victoria, starting on October 17. Power Cuts
There will be no electricity today in the following localities: 7.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wied Iz-Zurrieq and Qrendi in Congreve, San Pietru, Il-Madonna tar-Ruzarju, Wied Hoxt, Is-Sajjieda, Santa Katerina, Wied Iz-Zurrieq and Hagar Qim streets and in parts of Iz-Zurrieq and Qrendi streets; between 8 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. in St Paul's Bay in parts of San Pawl, San Luqa, Aristarku, Il-Konverzjoni and Luigi Preziosi streets.
Financial Support
The Directorate-General Information of the European Parliament has issued a call for proposals to identify projects that might be eligible for financial support from the European Parliament - DG Information.
The aim of the projects, which will be awarded a co-financing grant, is to increase awareness of the European Parliament, its role, how it operates and the positions it adopts, among the media, member states, opinion-formers and the public.
To be eligible for co-financing, projects will have to be in line with one of the themes defined in this call and, where applicable, it must be held in one of the member states mentioned under each theme.
The themes concerned, and the nature and content of the activities (as well as the conditions for granting assistance, application forms, guidance notes for applicants and a draft grant agreement) can be obtained from the following webpage:

Archicture Day
World Architecture Day 2005 will take place on October 3 with the theme Sharing The City.
To mark the day, the Chamber of Architects in collaboration with the Society of Architecture and Civil Engineering Students is hosting Time For Architecture, which will consist of 19 days of activities concerned with architecture.
One of the highlights of the programme will be a keynote speech by Charles Knevitt, Director of the Royal Institute of British Architects Trust on the evening of October 3 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.

Attard sub-post office
The sub-post office at Globe Stationery, 16A Main Street, Attard, will be closed between Wednesday and September 23, both days inclusive. During this period, the public can used the services of the Balzan Branch Post Office in Main Street.
Lane closed
Due to emergency works on the pedestrian bridge linking Triq San Tumas to Triq Balbi, Marsa today after 9 a.m., part of the one lane of December 13 Road, Marsa will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic, successively on both carriageways.
