CommBank Europe Limited was last month given a banking licence by the Malta Financial Services Authority and is to specialise in the provision of wholesale banking services, the MFSA said.

The newly licensed bank is a subsidiary of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, one of the largest listed companies on the Australian Stock Exchange. It is supervised by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority.
