A man who yesterday admitted to the possession of five ecstasy pills took the witness stand against a man charged with trafficking in the drug and identified him as his supplier.
James Muscat, 22, who resides in Portugal, was yesterday conditionally discharged for a year when he admitted to the possession of ecstasy on Saturday night.
Shortly after the judgement was handed down, Mr Muscat testified with urgency in the arraignment of 24-year-old Wayne Borg who pleaded not guilty to trafficking in ecstasy, the simple possession of heroin and the possession of cocaine in circumstances denoting the drugs were not for his personal use.
Mr Muscat told Magistrate Anthony Vella that he had come to Malta on holiday, as he was studying abroad. He said he first met Mr Borg about a week ago at a party when he was asking around for someone to buy ecstasy from.
That day Mr Borg did not have any but he gave him his mobile number in case he "needed anything".
Mr Muscat said that on the night of his arrest he called Mr Borg and they agreed to meet outside MacDonald's in St Julians. Once there Mr Muscat paid Lm25 and picked up the five pills which were laid on a stone.
Police Inspectors Nadia Lanzon and Pierre Grech prosecuted.
Dr Noel Camilleri appeared for Mr Muscat and Dr Joseph Giglio for Mr Borg.
