DJs to battle it out in CampusFest

CampusFest'05 will be held between September 9 and 11 on University Campus, the University Students' Council said yesterday.

The event is traditionally the curtain-raiser of the academic year and is the first major event organised by the new University Students' Council (KSU) executive which officially took office over the summer.

This year's event promises to be a huge success with a distinct theme being chosen for each of the three nights. The theme on September 9 is Back To The Future, a journey to the past, present and future of dance and house music in the form of a face-to-face "battle" between DJs Jan Flores and Luc Adams.

On September 10, DJ Owen Jay accompanied by the evergreen entertainer Fish will be playing the percussions. Fire dancers and jugglers will help to complete the spectacle. In keeping with tradition, September 11 is Band Bash with live performances by Rug (Gianni and Friends) and Hiddensun. Significantly, CampusFest'05 has returned to the Mikiel Anton Vassalli Quadrangle on university campus. With a massive stage and a huge screen acting as a backdrop, this year's event promises to be one of the biggest yet.

The entire weekend is free. Entrance is restricted to people over 16. Those students who are about to begin their university course are especially encouraged to attend, meet new people and experience the lighter side of university life.

Numerous stands will be set up representing every major beer brand available on the island. There will also be fully stocked bars and food stands, lots of giveaways, prizes, surprises and offers at the bars.

CampusFest'05 is being organised by KSU in collaboration with Fabric and Groovin Promotions. KSU is supported by HSBC.
