A man charged with the murder of Patricia Attard, who was shot dead in a mini van in Ta' Qali last year, yesterday chose not to testify during the compilation of evidence of a second man charged with complicity in her murder.

When Josef Grech took the witness stand in the case against Carmel Vella, Magistrate Saviour Demicoli cautioned him that anything he said could be taken down and used as evidence against him in court.

Mr Grech chose not to testify as he is currently undergoing separate court proceedings in which he is pleading not guilty to the murder of Ms Attard on February 13, 2004.

Mr Vella, known as Il-Gagu, is pleading not guilty to complicity in the murder, of committing a crime during the operative time of a suspended jail term and of relapsing.
