Entrance to Valletta
Our capital city's main entrance is in a sorry state. The bus terminus presents a dirty, polluted and very chaotic first impression to our capital city. Once past the bus terminus one is greeted by a cacophony of shabby street vendors selling anything from shoes to pastizzi, handicrafts to henna tattoos.
The City Gate itself is in very bad shape; the pavement and walls are extremely dirty and an awful smell often welcomes visitors.
One possible route to Valletta's main cultural expo, St James Cavalier, is via the stairs just inside the City Gate leading to the road above. The stairwell has a disgusting collection of rude words and graffiti, not to mention the broken flooring and nauseating smell.
When will we ever get a City Gate that suits the style and history of our capital? An entrance that would leave anyone entering or exiting Valletta impressed not by its dinginess and bad taste?
