Abandoned kitten

A grey eight-week-old kitten was recently abandoned on the parvis at Ta' Pinu in Gozo. It was badly dehydrated and left to fend for itself in the smothering August sun.

How can people do this? It would have been kinder to take the kitten to an animal shelter.

The kitten was not a stray - it was very friendly, but very weak and badly in need of a vet's attention. My heartful thanks goes to Dr Borg, the vet in Birkirkara, who, as usual, did her utmost to help.

When are people going to learn that animals feel pain, hunger and thirst?
