Rowing

Birzebbuga Regatta Club will be making a return to the September 8 Regatta next month after an absence of more than 25 years.

Some rowers have already taken part in the Freedom Day races this year but the Victory Day regatta will be Birzebbuga RC's most important date of the season as they intend to field an entry in all Open and B class races.

The club with modest ambitions is seeking to lay strong foundations for the future and are currently looking to secure a sponsorship to cover their expenses.

Recently they paraded their racing boats on the church parvis in Birzebbuga. Former The Times photographer Frank Attard's picture shows this budding 'junior oarsman' in one of the boats.
