The Zejtun local council has lodged its objection with the Malta Environment and Planning Authority over the revised plans for the Sant'Antnin waste recycling plant.

The council said that in the Environment Impact Assessment, the developers had admitted that the council was not consulted but they had consulted the Marsascala council instead because the plant was situated in that locality. The Zejtun council argued that the fact was that large vehicles laden with waste would go through the village on their way to the plant which was only 300 metres away from residential zones.

The Zejtun council said one had to bear in mind that in the periphery of Zejtun there were three residential zones where about 3,500 residents lived.
