Australia opening bowler Glenn McGrath is suffering from a sore elbow in the lead-up to the fourth Ashes test against England starting today.

McGrath, who missed the second test with an ankle injury and played when only half fit in the third, complained of feeling pain in the joint after training at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.

"It's a right elbow complaint," an Australia team spokesman said yesterday. "He was suffering pain and discomfort yesterday during practice so he went for scans last night."

The five-match series stands at 1-1. McGrath was man of the match in the first test at Lord's, won comprehensively by the world champions.
