Czech Republic striker Milan Baros has completed his move to Aston Villa from European champions Liverpool, signing a four-year deal with the Premier League club yesterday.

The 23-year-old will link up with fellow Czech Patrik Berger, who played a big part in his decision to join the midlands club, under manager David O'Leary.

"Of course, I am very pleased to join Villa. It is not easy to leave Liverpool but Villa are also a big club, so I am happy to come here," Baros told the Villa website after completing a medical.

"Hopefully my best years are still to come. I am still young and very ambitious. I want to achieve things with Aston Villa.

"I think there are some quality players here and hopefully we can qualify to play in Europe next season."

Baros joined Liverpool from Banik Ostrava for £3.6 million in 2001 and was under contract with the club until 2007. He has scored 25 goals in 40 appearances for the Czech Republic.

Baros will make his debut at home to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. Villa have lost one and drawn one of their first two games of the season.
