Simonds Farsons Cisk has become a sponsor of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA).
Justin Zammit Tabona, the association's president said that Farsons' sponsorship was tangible recognition of the MHRA's efforts to promote tourism in Malta and Gozo.
Speaking at the signing of the sponsorship agreement, Mr Zammit Tabona described Farsons as an icon of Maltese industry which directed a substantial part of its business towards hotels, restaurants and the tourist sector in general.
The MHRA, as part of this agreement, will itself promote Farsons among its members and generally during its public functions. Such synergies, said Mr Zammit Tabona, augured well for the work of the MHRA, particularly in campaigning for the development of the Malta product and the promotion of the Maltese Islands in source markets.
This was becoming an ever more important function of the MHRA at a time when competition from other destinations was growing and becoming more intense.
The support of Farsons, he said, provided real encouragement to the association.
Farsons chief executive Louis Farrugia said the company was proud to be assisting MHRA in its endeavours to further develop the tourism product in Malta and to lobby in the interests of this important sector for Malta's economy.
