Appreciation - John Pollacco

Irene Pollacco writes:

I came to know John about 50 years ago when we both worked for the Public Lotto Department, him as assistant director and myself as clerk typist.

I always thought of him as a real exemplary gentleman always wearing a smile on his face and very friendly with all the categories of staff, which in those days were numerous owing to the National Lottery, then in its peak of existence.

No wonder so many people, friends, colleagues and family turned up at the funeral at the Attard parish church.

During the time of his illness I visited him regularly, be it at home or the hospital, and although one could read it in his face that he was suffering, he suffered in silence, and he always came up with the same expression "mhux hazin" when asked.

I always admired John for the love of his family, and the way he kept his children and their families together, which one can see up to this very day.

When I met my husband Freddie in those early lottery days, I was very proud to have met John's brother knowing that I was to be related to Mr Pollacco.

In your much deserved place in God's kingdom, please John pray for us all, especially your dear wife Guza, your children and their families. I know you are reaping the fruit of a wonderful life on earth.

God bless you.
