Obituary

BORG. On August 17, ERMINIA of Sliema, aged 82, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, to meet her beloved husband Dominic and son Raymond. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Carmel and his wife Aureen, Alfred and his wife Narcissa, Martin and his wife Margaret, her grandchildren Charlene and her husband Paul, Charles, Amy, Adrian, Mariana and her boyfriend Mark, her great-grandchildren Daelin and Mykayla, her sisters Mary, Giovanna and Josephine, her brother-in-law Johnny and his wife Emanuela, their respective families on both sides, neighbours and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves Casa Serena, Bugibba, tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.

BUTTIGIEG. On August 18, at his residence in Lija, PAUL JOSEPH, formerly of Qala, Gozo, aged 57, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Deeply mourned by his wife Joyce née Mifsud, his children Marco and his wife Dorothy, Stefania and her husband Elton Barry, Carlo, and Graziella, his beloved grandchildren Rebecca, Laura, Michela and Mattia, his brothers and sisters Josette, MaryRose, Antoinette, Marie Therese, Antoine, Cecilia, Salvina, Eugene, Marie Louise, Vincent and their spouses, his in-laws Annie, Carmen, Jane, Michael, Rose and Twanny, their spouses, nephews and nieces, many relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves his residence today at 2.45 p.m. for Lija parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 3 p.m., followed by interment at Mqabba cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to St Clare's Monastery, St Julians, will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

SCICLUNA. On August 15, at St Luke's Hospital, JOSEPH, aged 54, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents Karmenu and Lorenza, his brothers Loretu and his wife Rose, and Frankie, his nephews Christopher, Carl and David, his uncles Cikku and Toni and aunt Loreta, cousins, all relatives and friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 4.30 p.m. at Ghajnsielem parish church followed by interment in the family grave at the Ghajnsielem parish cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

TONIOLO - FRANCO, formerly of the Scientific Institute, San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, and for 25 years collaborator of Mgr. Charles G. Vella, on the fifth anniversary of his new life in the home of His Father. A Mass for his repose will be celebrated today at 6 p.m. at the Ursuline Crèche chapel, Karm Galea Street, Sliema. All his Maltese friends are invited to remember their always-smiling amico Franco.

Photography Course

The Malta Photographic Society will hold its Starting Photography course for 2005/06 starting on October 4 at 6 p.m.

The course will last for 10 consecutive Tuesdays ending on January 10. It will be held at the society's premises at 137, Old Bakery Street, Valletta.

The fee for the course, which will be conducted in Maltese, is Lm20. Handouts in book form will be available for an additional Lm2. The number of vacancies for the course is 45 and applications will be treated on a first come, first served basis.

Technology Degree

David Falzon of Naxxar was conferred a degree in specialised technology in industrial engineering by Thomson Education Direct after years of balancing between his work as a technician at ST Microelectronics and studying in his free time.

Thomson Education Direct provides courses by distance learning from the USA both at diploma and associate degree levels.

European Management Services, a subsidiary of the educational group EIE (European Institute of Education), is the local representative for Thomson Education Direct.

Traffic Diversion

Due to road surfacing works along Triq Is-Siggiewi from j/w Triq S. Borg Olivier, Triq Mons. Mikiel Azzoppardi and Triq Ta' l-Ghadba, traffic to and from Siggiewi will be diverted through Triq Ta' l-Ghadba and Triq S. Borg Olivier tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Third Age University

The University Of The Third Age (Malta) will open registration for the 2005/6 academic year on September 13. Enrolment will take place at the U3 Office, 31, St Christopher Street, Valletta, Monday to Friday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Prize Winners

John Abela of Tarxien has won first prize - a flight for one person and accommodation for two for three nights on half board basis in Tunisia - in a promotion organised by Gallerija Shopping Complex of Fgura.

The second prize - a weekend break at a St Julians hotel - was won by Mary Arnold of Fgura.

Consumers can participate in a draw through tickets obtained with every Lm5 spent at the complex.

The next draw will be held on September 1.
