No forgotten repairs

I refer to the letter entitled Forgotten Repairs (August 15).

The Water Services Corporation would like to state that the project to which the correspondent refers is being carried out entirely by the Malta Transport Authority (ADT) and that the responsibility for re-instating and embellishing the trenched roads falls under the ADT and their contractor.

The project is part of the Fifth Italian Protocol which covers the upgrading of roads. The Water Services Corporation is not providing any new water services in the area, therefore, any verbal complaints allegedly made to the engineer in charge must have been made to someone who is not an employee of the WSC.

In the above project the corporation simply took the opportunity to ensure the formation of a minor deviation of the water distribution mains passing from the main road into the side streets, thereby avoiding the possibility of digging up again any newly reinstated roads. Again, these minor works were carried out by the ADT contractor.
