A faulty air-conditioning system at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Valletta, has forced the promoters to shift the venue of DramaFest 2005 to the Malta Drama Centre, at Maria Regina Junior Lyceum, Blata l-Bajda.
The original programme will be retained.
"Moving the DramaFest to another venue was not an easy decision but, after consulting with the DramaFest coordinator and the drama groups themselves, we believe this is the most sensible decision," Paul Mifsud, executive director of the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, said.
DramaFest 2005, showcasing innovative Maltese theatrical works by 11 leading theatre groups, will be held over the coming two weekends.
On the first night tomorrow, the audience will have the opportunity to see the works of five of the participating theatre groups, namely Playhouse Theatre Arts Company, Theatr@lliance, Curtain Raiser Theatre Troupe, Stage Breeze and Sleepwalkers.
The festival continues on Saturday and Sunday and between August 26 and 28.
Aleateia, Du', Faces Theatre Group, Imaginarts entertainment productions, Ruben Zahra and Urbania will also perform.
DramaFest 2005 is sponsored by HSBC Bank Malta and forms part of Summer Arts Festival Malta 2005, organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts.
Performances start at 7.30 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays the audience can participate in a theatre chat, held after the performances.
Pre-bookings can be made at St James Cavalier on tel. 2122 3200 between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily. Tickets will also be available at the door at the Malta Drama Centre on each performance day from 6.30 p.m. onwards.
