With great interest I read the interview with Noel Grech about the Gozo Sailing Club (GSC) in the Gozo Times. I do agree with him that there is need for more activities and that sailing and windsurfing could be one of them.

Therefore it might be good to know that we are working on starting a sailing centre in Gozo which will rent out sailing boats, surfing boards and others and will give courses as well. We are waiting for the necessary permits but we hope to start in the spring of 2006.

We started developing these plans two years ago and because we are members of the GSC we spoke to the board of the Gozo Sailing Club to see if we could work out something together. We were willing to invest in premises and boats but unfortunately the GSC did not want to cooperate with any commercial partner and would rather wait for EU funding.

Although we hope they will get their funding sooner or later and have their own club, we did not want to wait for that and decided to continue with our own plans in a different location. We are already approached by hotels that are very interested in offering our services to their clients and we hope to meet a lot of Maltese and foreigners in our sailing centre next year!
