WasteServ has removed the Iklin bring-in site due to numerous acts of vandalism and illegal dumping and is urging residents to use the sites of the surrounding localities until an alternative site is identified.

The bring-in site in Iklin was even set alight some weeks ago.

WasteServ said the site in question must have been targeted by vandals because of its location. It was situated in an uninhabited area, which discouraged the residents to make use of it while it encouraged illegal dumping in the surroundings.

Talks are underway between WasteServ and the Iklin local council to find an alternative site in a more prominent area and closer to residents. This will encourage residents to dispose of their recyclable materials in a more environmental friendly manner and without causing any inconvenience to the neighbourhood, WasteServ said.
