Tomato exports in winter

Machinery which would facilitate the export of 2,000 tonnes of tomatoes in winter has been installed by Magro Brothers.

During a visit to the company in Xewkija, Parliamentary Secretary Francis Agius said the equipment was bought through EU funds for marketing and processing, of which Lm391,575 were allocated to Malta. Dr Agius said Malta's size enabled the processing of tomatoes within 24 hours of picking.

The government has conducted a campaign encouraging consumers to go for Maltese products.

Magro Brothers export to the UK, Italy and France.
