Recently we have been seeing policemen on bicycles going round Sliema .While agreeing with this practice, may I suggest that they wear helmets, firstly for their own safety and secondly to set an example. They should also perhaps carry a small first aid kit.

I assume that careful cycling on the Sliema promenade is allowed as the police were riding their bikes on the pavement. I also agree with this completely especially after the roads along the Sliema front were narrowed a couple of years back, making it more dangerous to ride a bike on the road.

The only restrictions should be the time of day especially summer evenings.

And perhaps a one-metre wide lane should be introduced on the promenade, where the cyclist will have priority.

Cyclists do not have many places where to ride their bikes safely - even Ta' Qali is off limits to them. I cannot expect to ride my bike on a Sunday afternoon when it is crowded but during other times of the day or week it should be permitted.
