Turkey's EU membership

The Prime Minister and the new Maltese Ambassador to Turkey should stop stating that Malta supports Turkey's bid to join the European Union.  

If it is their personal view, they have a right to their opinion, but they should not make it the Maltese government's official position. 

If they want Malta to support Turkey's bid to join the EU they should first hold a referendum to see what the Maltese think about it. I am sure that at least three-quarters of the population are against.
