The Sliema Band will represent Malta in cultural activities being organised by the towns of Como in Italy and Lugano in Switzerland.

The band will play in Como on August 18, taking it in turns to play with the band Baradello during a concert. The Sliema band will receive an official decoration by the Como and the Lombardia regions. The band will then be playing in Piazza Dante in Lugano on August 21. In both instances, the band will be directed by Ronnie Debattista.

Compositions by Mro Debattista are among works to be played with music by Andrew Lloyd Weber, Ernest Gold, Giuseppe Verdi, Cesare Andrea Bixio, Johann Strauss, Pasqual Marquina, T. Green and George Doughty.

This will be the ninth international mission of the band.
