The General Workers' Union has requested protection against the heat and the sun's rays for the workers of the Environmental Landscapes Consortium Ltd, who are continually exposed to the sun. In a letter to the management, section secretary Josephine Attard Sultana pointed out that temperatures often rose to 35°C, which was causing the employees physical suffering.

The union asked the ELC to take the necessary steps to provide protection, including giving workers a hat and sun block.
