A troupe of Maltese actors from the Malta Drama Centre will be in Tunisia from next Sunday to take part in the 2005 edition of the Monastir International Theatre Festival in Tunisia.
Drama companies from Italy, France, Spain, Russia, Lithuania, Syria, Morocco and Tunisia will also be taking part.
The troupe will present a Maltese, modern adaptation of Euripides' The Phoenicians, directed by Lino Farrugia.
The cast for The Phoenicians is made up of a mix of regular and extended programme members of the centre and include Adrian Azzopardi, Sean Bugeja, Christine Francalanza, Louise Galea, David Scicluna Giusti and Brian Vella. Christopher Grech is assistant to the production.
This is the fifth production to be presented overseas this year by the centre.
Two other productions, one for Germany and another for the Dublin Fringe Drama Festival are at an advanced rehearsal stage.
