Electoral districts (1)

Big Brother is watching us! When are we going to awake from our stupor and realise that the main political parties have been pulling the wool over our eyes for decades. The electoral divisions provide an obvious case. They have taken the cake and are consuming it greedily.

It is time we have a real change in this matter. Which party would have the courage to implement a true democratic and proportional representative government? Let us do away with the clientele system based on electoral districts that poisons the entire political fare. Bring in party lists and representation based on the direct proportion of votes gained. Mandate a threshold to have parliamentary representatives.

We are clinging to an electoral system that produces "perverse results", an electoral process given to us by some British bureaucrats who knew better than to adopt it in their homeland almost a hundred years ago; a system that has bread mediocrity and corruption. If we wish to be seen as a modern society, it is not in the business, building and hunting lobbies that control government but in a fair and equitable electoral system.
