Norwegian students at Guzè Damato Secondary School

A group of Norwegian students from Sinnes Skule were recently in Malta to meet students from Guzè Damato Boys' Secondary School, Paola. During this scholastic year students from these two schools worked together, via e-mail, on a UNESCO sponsored Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet) project.

ASPnet boasts of 5,500 member institutions in more than 160 countries. It was established to promote education in schools for international understanding and co-operation. One of the strategies for building a culture of peace is through establishing direct links between schools.

The Norwegian group, led by head of school Liv Undheim and her husband Mogstad, a teacher at the same school, visited the Guzè Damato Boys' Secondary School and met the students involved in the project together with their teachers Ms C. Bezzina, Ms E. Cezek, Mr M. Falzon and subject co-ordinator Mr V. Barbara. The Maltese teachers also organised a cultural tour for the Norwegian and Maltese students. They visited the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, Hagar Qim prehistoric temples, the Blue Grotto and the medieval city of Mdina.

This is the fifth time that students from Sinnes school have collaborated on project work with students from Guzè Damato Secondary School.
