Matthew Asciak and Steffi Sullivan made a perfect combination yesterday in the final of the tennis Mixed Doubles event as they outclassed Holland's Van Meijeren and Routgers 9-1 for a deserved FISEC Games gold medal.

Kim Cassar also played her part at the Madrid tennis courts when she partnered Santos, of Spain, on their way to a 6-1 6-0 win in the final of the women's doubles.

Also yesterday, Asciak had the better of Spain's Murillo 6-1 6-3 in a play-off for the singles bronze medal and Sullivan won her match for third place against Prieto, of Spain, 6-1 6-2.

Another bronze medal went to Michael Molzahn's boys in futsal after the team won a decisive match against Holland 8-5. Here, Warren Chircop and Lee Galea notched a hat-trick each.

In basketball, the girls' team finished on a negative note after a 56-48 upset to Spain 'B'.

The 2005 FISEC Games came to a close last night. Next year's Games will be held in Hungary.
