A Naxxar man was yesterday put on probation for three years when he admitted to trying to extort money from a woman by threatening to defame her. Mario Camilleri, 31, pleaded guilty to trying to extort money from Anna Pomorski and threatening her in writing on June 17.

Police Inspector Sharon Tanti prosecuted.
