Four Sliema Wanderers FC nursery teams recently figured in the 20th Mediterraneo Trophy, in Lloret de Mar, Spain.

The Sliema contingent, led by Tonio Mizzi and Stanley Caruana, was made up of 96 persons. Among the group were players from the U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 teams. They were accompanied by coaches, club officials and parents.

The U-16 squad won their section after beating CF Albuixec 1-0 in the final. The U-14 won the play-off for third place and the U-12 team finished fifth.

The U-10 side also finished fifth after one win, a draw and a loss in their category.

Nearly 2,000 players, hailing from Italy, Israel, Malta, Hungary, Greece, France and various Spanish regions, took part.
