The Maltese architectural practice Architecture Project (AP), has been awarded first prize in an international design competition for the realisation of a 15-floor high commercial building in Split, Croatia.

Launched in January by the Municipality of the City of Split and the Society of Architects of Split, the competition called for an urban and architectural proposal for the development of a 10,400 square-metre site intended as a landmark building at the entrance of the new part of the town.

The project was prepared in collaboration with local architect Darija Sinovcic and local engineering firm Imos-Invest led by its senior partner Ivo Orlandini.

The award ceremony took place at the premises of the Society of Architects of Split on July 14 and was followed by the opening of an exhibition of all the entries.

In May 2004, AP set up a practice in Split which is led by its local partner, Drazen Krvavica. It provides architectural and engineering consultancy services for projects in Split and on the islands off the Croatian coast.
