The University Department of Surgery in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow will be holding a course in basic surgical skills.
In addition, a one-day course in anastomosis techniques will also be held.
The courses will be held at the Medical School, in Guardamangia between today and Friday.
The three-day basis surgical skills course focuses on techniques and dexterity to young doctors and covers a range of skills and techniques required for open surgery, trauma, orthopaedics and minimal access surgery.
The anastomosis course deals with suturing techniques of bowel and major vessels.
The coordinator is Godfrey LaFerla, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Charles Borg Galea is providing technical support.
A visiting faculty team from the Royal College of Surgeons, who will be running the courses, includes Steven Barnes, John Anderson, John Drury as consultant surgeons and Robert McAnnany as the technical officer.
