Two batchs of Plasmon Mela Omogeneizzato (strained Apples 3* 120 grammes) have been withdrawn from the market because the product was found to contain a high level of patulin, a contaminant found in apple products.
The batch numbers are 4316 6120 (B), expiry date 30/11/06, and 5035 6120 (B), expiry date 28/02/07.
Vivian Corporation Ltd, which has recalled these batches from retailers, said the product was tested locally and found to contain a higher level of the contaminant than that stipulated in EU regulation 1425/2003.
This regulation allows for a maximum level of 10ug/kg. in baby food.
Customers who may have unconsumed samples of these two batches are asked to call on free phone 8007 3101 for details of re-imbursement.
Vivian Corporation apologised for any inconvenience.
