The Malta Tourism Authority's destination website www.visitmalta.com registered 215,062 visitors, or 7,168 a day, during June.

This brings the total number of visitors to the site in the first six months of the year to nearly 1,150,000, an increase of 24 per cent on last year.

The site has versions in English, Italian, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.

Earlier this year, Swiss travel agents voted visitmalta.com the second-best travel website after the Swiss Tourist Office's own site. Visitmalta.com was described as the "best example of how a small destination can produce an excellent website".

Popular features on the site include downloadable digital e-brochures, the My Malta personalised brochure service, an interactive map as well as the streaming of events which have included Carnival and a Good Friday procession.

The most-visited pages on visitmalta.com are those related to What To See, Where To Stay and What To Do. The pages containing practical information, the picture gallery and the 360-degree images were also popular with visitors.
