1,052 struck off register in six months

A total of 1,052 people were struck off the employment register (parts one and two) in the first half of this year, compared to 1,492 for the whole of last year, figures given in Parliament yesterday by Education and Employment Minister Louis Galea show.

The minister said 858 were struck in 2003 while 1,494 were struck off in 2000; 1,478 in 2001 and 1,203 in 2002.

The minister was replying to a parliamentary question by Charles Buhagiar (MLP).
