Adam Diao, the younger brother of Senegal international midfielder Salif Diao, who is still on the books of European champions Liverpool, is poised to join Floriana.

The 22-year-old Diao has been undergoing a trial with Floriana for the past two weeks and has already figured for the Greens in two friendly matches, a goalless draw against a Nigerian selection and a 3-1 win over Marsaxlokk.

His performances have reportedly lived up to the expectations of Floriana coach Jimmy Briffa who has given his nod for Diao's signing.

To engage Diao, Floriana will have to severe their ties with one of the three foreign players they had last season, namely Congolese defender Riad-Mynel Gango Rtsa, Nigerian forward Anthony EviParker and Brazilian Andre Rocha Da Silva.

Floriana could make further changes to their overseas line-up after it emerged that two strikers, one from Macedonia and the other from Serbia, will be joining the squad for a trial in the coming days.

On Tuesday Floriana reached an agreement with Lija to sign goalkeeper Simon Agius on a season-long deal. The Greens were forced to look for a new keeper after Reuben Gauci moved to Marsaxlokk.
