The Marsascala shop owners association has called on the Prime Minister to stop all projects harming the area.

It also complained of the "discriminatory" manner in which it said the authorities were treating Marsascala.

It claimed that while certain projects that were harmful to the area, such as fish farms and the recycling plant, were being accepted and promoted by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, business persons who were investing, generating business and embellishing the town were being hindered by bureaucracy and lengthy procedures.
