Paul Galea (July 11) is really "lost in space" when he spoke about the cost of the Deep Impact mission as being $330 billion. A simple search on the internet would have shown that the entire Nasa budget for 2005 is $16.2 billion and the cost of the mission to the Tempel 1 comet is just $240 million. I will not even comment on his "feeding the African children with this money" argument because any type of scientific research or space exploration is 1,000 times more important for the future of humanity as a whole.
