St John Ambulance Brigade organised 37 first aid courses at their premises and 78 other courses for entities at various venues, members were told at the organisation's annual general meeting.
The AGM was presided over by the chairman of the St John Council, Chief Justice Emeritus John J. Cremona.
The St John Rescue Corps, commanded by the Marquis Anthony Buttigieg de Piro, practised the various rescue and diving techniques on a weekly basis and their rapid response was tested when on one particular occasion they were called by the Civil Protection Department. Within one hour no fewer than 34 corps members reported at an incident site and put themselves at the disposal of the on-scene commander.
Corps members also dedicated some of their time to giving rescue demonstrations and to the cleaning of part of the Mdina Bastions.
