Industrial dispute

The GWU has registered an industrial dispute with the management of the Corinthia San Gorg following the suspension of a shop steward after he allegedly did not perform his duties properly.

The GWU said the shop steward was suspended without being given the opportunity for a fair hearing and without any consultation with the union.

The union insists that provisions over discipline stipulated in the collective agreement should be respected.

It was therefore reserving the right to resort to industrial action if the management continued to ignore such provisions.
