F.O.I. director general Wilfred Kenely and administration manager John B. Scicluna welcomed Kevin Willmott of Informa UK Ltd to the FOI's premises on Friday. The T&F Informa group is a licensee of Lloyd's registered trademarks and is involved in the Freighting Update of the Lloyd's Loading List.

The main purpose of Mr Willmott's visit to Malta was to collate the information and viewpoints for the forthcoming Malta supplement within the update.

The questions discussed with the FOI officials included the present state of the economy; the decision to join the ERM; the effects of EU membership one year on; problems facing industry; present local and foreign direct investment trends; new business opportunities with the EU and north Africa; main costs of industry, such as energy and ports; the Government's privatisation programme and Sea Malta; as well as prospects for the future.
