Robinho shows up at Santos, does not train

Disgruntled Brazil striker Robinho made a brief appearance at Santos's headquarters yesterday, but once again defied club directors by failing to train.

Angry with the Brazilian champions because they turned down a $25 million bid for him from Real Madrid, Robinho joked with his team-mates before having a conversation with coach Gallo.

Neither Gallo nor Robinho commented and the 21-year-old, regarded as one of Brazil's most exciting player, left without training.

On Monday, Robinho had been ordered to resume training as Santos said that any team wanting to buy him before the end of his contract in 2008 must pay a $50 million penalty.

The 21-year-old, who also missed Sunday's Brazilian championship match at home to Juventude, said last week that he had spoken to Real and wanted to join them.

His comments came at the end of the Confederations Cup, where he played for Brazil in all five games as they won the competition.

His also missed training on Friday and Saturday before saying that he was not in the right frame of mind to play in Brazil.
