Hibernians striker Andrew Cohen was yesterday presented with the Player of the Year trophy by Malta FA president Joe Mifsud during the annual awards ceremony.

Cohen was named player of the year at an MFA Council meeting last month after topping the poll organised every year by the local governing body to choose its best player for the previous season.

Valletta skipper Gilbert Agius and Brian Said, of Sliema Wanderers, finished second and third respectively.

During yesterday's ceremony, staged inside the Millennium Stand of the National Stadium, the winners of the awards in the other divisions of the MFA National Leagues, also received trophies from Dr Mifsud.

These included: George Attard ( Senglea A. , Division One), Anthony Curmi (Tarxien R. , Division Two), Matthew Xerxen (Gudja U., Division Three), Miguel Montfort (Valletta, Youth League), Jane Coates (Mosta, Women's League) and James Navarro (Konica Minolta Gunners, Futsal League).
