Pietà Hotspurs midfielder Silvan Ciscaldi is the winner of the best goal award in the 2005 Westin Malta Football Awards.

His spectacular strike in the second round match against champions Sliema Wanderers drew the biggest number of points at a vote held at the Westin Dragonara Resort on Wednesday evening.

Ciscaldi, 21, will receive the award during the presentation night to be held on Saturday, July 16, at the Westin.

Journalists from the various local media organisations, representatives of the 10 Premier League clubs and members of the organising committee of the awards voted for last season's best goal after watching video clips of the top 26 strikes.

Ciscaldi's goal in Pietà's 3-2 defeat to Sliema Wanderers topped the list with 89 points. Valletta skipper Gilbert Agius, who was nominated for his excellent goal - a stunning overhead kick - in his side's 3-0 defeat of Hibernians in the first round of the Championship Pool, was second with 81 points.

Daniel Bogdanovic's strike for Marsaxlokk in their 4-1 win over Pietà Hotspurs was voted as the third-best goal on 70 points.
