The Information Technology Ministry and Malta Enterprise have adapted the programme myWeb to be offered to employees of private companies and their families.
Minister Austin Gatt said myWeb was a course aimed at adults who have never used a computer.
It is 20 hours long - 10 hours concentrating on basic information on informatics and computer programmes, six hours on the use of internet and four hours on the use of e-mail.
The course has been revised to include information and a guide to how the electronic government services can be used. It has up to now been taken up by 17,000 people.
The objective of the course is for workers to be trained at their workplace, increasing their value for the benefit of their employer and the country. Some of the workers will be trained as instructors.
The first course is being offered by Playmobil, Trelleborg and Berger Paints to their employees.
