Who is the real animal, a dog who has no knowledge of right or wrong or its owner?

I would like to share the experience that we had the other day in Armier. We had barely arrived next to some boathouses when along came a man with his dogs. One of them immediately attacked our much smaller dog which my wife was holding on a leash. The attacker had already pounced on our dog, amid the screams and shouts let out by my wife, two friends, our two children and myself, before the owner noticed what was happening. He then called to his dog who faithfully returned to him.

Our dog was so terrified that my wife had to lift him up to soothe him. When we demanded that the dogs be kept on a leash, their owner responded that his dogs were not aggressive and that they never harmed anybody. He was also amazed at our demand.

No sooner had he left than another of the dogs approached us from another direction aiming for our dog which was still being carried by my wife. Luckily it stopped in its tracks when I stepped into its path and shouted at it.

God knows what would have happened had the second dog not retreated. Would it have waited for my wife to set the dog down? Would it have attacked with the possibility of biting my wife in the process?

Do you think that their owner kept his dogs tied up after this? Not at all - they were still seen roaming around.

A lot of people are voicing their concern about certain types of dogs, wanting them to be kept muzzled when outdoors. But we still have the problem that these dogs are allowed to roam unleashed.
