Some weeks ago I read an article asking the question "Are the Maltese racist?" After an incident this morning and on other numerous occasions I would have to say the answer would be, very possibly.
I was half way round a roundabout on the way to the airport when a woman approached at high speed with no intention of slowing down, causing me to make an emergency stop.
I was shocked to see on her rear windscreen a sticker reading "baby on board". After following her and asking her why she had been so irresponsible, her answer was to tell me to go back to my country, using words which cannot be repeated in a newspaper and making a rude gesture.
This racist slur was directed at someone white and British, so I can only imagine her feelings and those of others of her type towards other nationalities and skin colours!
This attitude, I fear, will do little to help foreign investment and the tourism industry. All the religious teaching in this country of "love thy neighbor" is apparently not really working!
