The appeal by two readers to make St Anthony Street, Zebbug a one-way street is impractical. It would disrupt the smooth running of traffic throughout the southern part of the village.

Two previous local councils under different mayors had made the same recommendation but both withdrew their suggestion after realising the consequences of such a measure.

The then Traffic Control Board had studied this suggestion deeply and likewise their recommendation was negative. A copy of this report is in my filing cabinet.

What is actually needed in St Anthony Street is "no parking" signs at its narrowest stretch.
