George. G. Debono (June 20) writes: "Muzzling should be restricted to dogs known to have exhibited dangerous behaviour". So I guess this means that first a dog must bite, attack or even come close to doing so before someone gets the bright idea to muzzle it!

An owner must be responsible for his dog at all times, especially when he takes that dog out in public. Muzzling of dogs in public should apply to all breeds because any breed can be vicious given the right circumstances and upbringing. If one is afraid that one's dog might be endangered because he can't pant in our hot weather with a muzzle on, then one should take the dog out at night rather than at noon.

It seems most dog owners are more worried about muzzling their dogs than about what grief their dog can cause to parents of a child who is left with half her face torn, or worse, mauled to death.

Ooh, makes you feel so warm and tingly inside, doesn't it!
