Consumers have a right to receive correct and clear information about the prices of products, Parliamentary Secretary Edwin Vassallo said yesterday.
Prices should be displayed both in the shop window and on the products themselves, he said.
Mr Vassallo reminded all shop owners that they are duty bound to display the prices on all their products. Consumers have the right to receive adequate, correct and clear information about the price of goods for sale to be able to make informed decisions when comparing prices before the final decision of buying.
Mr Vassallo emphasised the fact that "the indicated price must be the final retail selling or unit price, including VAT and any other taxes or charges.
"It is not acceptable for products to display a price which does not include VAT and which must then have the VAT added to it."
