Earn a top degree from Malta

The University of London enjoys worldwide fame. Established in 1836, it is one of the oldest and largest universities in Britain. It is a federation of 21 colleges and institutes, some specialised, such as London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE); some multi-faculty such as King's College London, University College London, Imperial College and Goldsmiths College, and others which are smaller specialist institutes.

The university has an excellent reputation in the UK and internationally, and the quality of its degree and research activities is widely acknowledged and respected. All students, irrespective of the college or institute they attend, are awarded a University of London degree.

The opportunity to study externally from the university still appeals to many types of students. Maltese students are able to read a University of London degree of their choice while following lectures in Malta, presenting assignments and sitting for exams, without having to travel and live in London. In its statute, the university makes no distinction in the quality of the award gained by external students and those who attend its colleges in London.

What this means is that any student reading one of the University of London degrees in Malta may continue reading such a degree at the lead college of the programme in the UK, without having to repeat any of the units already studied and passed or having to sit for any additional units because of the transfer.

St Martin's Institute of IT accepted its first students to read for University of London degrees in 2000, after five years of hard work to develop the school's resources on par with those required by the university. The first five years saw the school excel in its educational standards, with all students sitting for their annual examinations passing their exams. So much so, that this year, out of 11 graduate students, no less than five achieved a first class honours and another five a second upper classification, an achievement which resulted in a mention of the institute by the Chancellor of the University during the graduation ceremony.

St Martin's Institute of IT is offering the opportunity to students to read several programmes of the University of London, in fields that include computing, economics, English, business, management and information systems.

All the degrees on offer are also available for mature students who may wish to read a degree without leaving their jobs.

A full prospectus is available for any enquiring student and parent. Information meetings will be held with the principal and the degree directors. Later, the course directors from the University of London will be in Malta to meet with students already reading these qualifications, as well as prospective students.
